mdEdit
A clean, native macOS markdown editor — and the first one your AI can actually write in.
Open a document and Claude can read and edit it live, right alongside you, through a local connection on your Mac. No cloud, no copy-paste, no server in between: your files stay yours.
A distraction-free writing surface. Fully native menus and shortcuts. Free.

Built-in MCP server
mdEdit ships with its own Model Context Protocol (MCP) server, so Claude Desktop can read and edit your markdown files without any extra setup. Point Claude at your notes and let it draft, revise, and organize alongside you.
Drop [ai: note] inline anywhere in a file to leave notes and action items for Claude — then let it work like a copy editor right in the document.
